Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas popularly known in the media as Ashanti was born on October 13, the 13th of October, 1980 at Glen Cove New York United States. She is a singer songwriter and actress who hails from in the United States. Ashanti started her career in the teen years, then was eventually signed to Murder Inc. Records by 2002. The same year she also made an appearance in Fat Joe's What's Luv? the song "What's Love?" by Fat Joe as well as Ja Rule, entitled Always on Time was a huge hit for both of them. Her songs Foolish (number one) as well as the track What's Luv! The first female artist holding both the top two spots on American Billboard Hot 100, with Foolish at number one, and then What's Love? Act One's MC's"Like They Don't Know" as well as 8 Off's Ghetto Woman. Ashanti was sought out and signed by several recording labels, including Bad Boy.
